DHL to build a new cargo terminal at Vilnius Airport

The Ministry of Transport and Communications welcomes the investments of the international company in Lithuania. It was offered to evaluate several options for its expansion: to build a terminal at Vilnius Airport or Kaunas Airport located in the centre of Lithuania and a very convenient place for logistics. Kaunas Airport is situated near the free economic zone and the highway; a public logistics centre with a railway branch line will be opened in the vicinity.
DHL has been also offered an opportunity to cooperate with the Post of Lithuania, which has the available premises close to Vilnius Airport and is also planning to build a logistics centre in Kaunas.
“It may be difficult for DHL to put its rapid development into action at Vilnius Airport because Vilnius City Municipality has not yet approved the airport’s detailed plan, and this process may be time-consuming. We are ready to cooperate with the municipality to achieve the approval of the detailed plan at the earliest possible opportunity,” said Minister of Transport and Communications Eligijus Masiulis.
The company’s investments in Lithuania would amount to approximately 10 million litas. Currently, DHL provides about 150 jobs in our country.
